Dear Legislator: Before You Increase the Minimum Wage…

WHO’S fault is it that our current minimum wage isn’t a “living wage”? There IS a relationship between taxes, from every level of government, and take-home pay. Please don’t increase the burden on small business and increase consumer prices for the poor as well as the wealthy by raising the minimum wage.
If you want to have a real impact on “living wage”, step up to the plate, accept responsibility, and REDUCE TAXES! Yes, some will say you are stingy and heartless. The newspapers won’t call you a champion of the poor. You won’t be treated like a hero on Idaho Public TV’s weekly show. But you’ll be doing the right thing for all wage earners.

This seems to really hit the nail on the head. It seems that inflation and taxes cause the most harm to anyone trying to cover their expenses, let alone save for a rainy day, retirement, or kids college education. Unfortunately it’s all one big cycle, and a very politically charged cycle at that!
