The Idaho Legislature in Action

March 1st, 2007 by Halli

Have you taken the time yet to listen to and/or watch the Idaho Legislature on line?  It is fascinating one minute, deadly boring the next, but always worth the time.

You’ll get to know the faces, learn a little about parliamentary procedure, and the rules of the House and Senate.  You’ll learn how JFAC (the Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee) sets budgets.  And you’ll have just a little bit better idea how laws are made in the state of Idaho.

Of course, you won’t get to witness the other committee hearings, or sit in on the back room deals or caucus meetings.  But even if you were in the capitol in body, you wouldn’t be able to be everywhere!

Give it a try, and if your kids are home, get them to watch for a minute, too. Just go to the IPTV website and click to start your crash course on Idaho government.
