For many of us the place in which we now find ourselves, our country
and our freedom is a place we never thought possible. We never dreamed
that those in Washington would decide to give away billions of dollars
to financial institutions who had behaved stupidly in loaning money.
We never dreamed that a bill to “decrease our dependence on foreign
oil” would be 1200 pages long – 300 of which never even made it to the
floor of the house before a vote was forced. Can you imagine signing a
contract without even reading the last 300 pages of it? The
Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, Magna Carta
and Gettysburg address don’t come anywhere near to 100 pages, let
alone 300.

For me, the question is not “How could they pass a bill like this?”
the question is “What made them think it was ok to sign a bill without
reading it?” Is this ok with you? This is not something as paltry as
buying a car, a house, a housing development, or even a city. This is
a law. This is a law you will be expected to follow, and if you don’t
follow it people with guns will show up at your house and will throw
you in jail.

They didn’t even read it.

They took away yet more of our freedoms without even reading the bill
that did it. Can you imagine living your life like this? How long
would it take for someone to present something for you to sign that
took everything you have and more? But this isn’t being done on so
small a scale as to take away the possessions of a single person –
this is happening to the population of our entire country.

If you had an employee do this to you how long would it take you to
fire him? How long would it take you to sue him for everything he was
worth to try to recover some of what he signed away?

How long will it take us to fire those in Washington that signed these things?
You signed TARP? Fired. Stimulus? Fired. Cap and Trade? Fired. And
heaven forbid – Health Care. Fired.

I don’t care about whatever else you say you are for or have done in
the past. Enjoy your retirement, you are no longer representing the
people that elected you and are definitely not defending our freedoms.
Of course, they will try to scare us into electing them yet again –
they will claim that whoever opposes them is “inexperienced” and that
they believe “extreme” things. They will do everything they can to
scare you to death, but when they do it is important to remember.
“Fear is the passion of slaves.” Are we slaves or are we free? If we
allow our fear to control us we will be slaves even though we might
pretend to be free.

Are you ready for the anguish of spirit it will cost? Are you willing
to know the whole truth, to know the worst and to provide for it?
I am.

I loved the life I was able to lead up to this point, but it seems
that life has ended.

“We mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our
sacred Honor.”

Real words, real people, real consequences.

They bought our freedom with those words and the actions that followed
them. Will we allow that freedom to be taken away through our
inaction?

“Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would
they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at
the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not
what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me
death!”
